In Loving memory of
"Willie Collier Rivers”, 87, of Denver Colorado passed away on December 15th 2020. He passed away quietly during the night at his home in Lakewood Colorado happy that he made it past his birthday.
Willie grew up in Winston Salem, North Carolina and moved to Colorado in the 1960’s. After his short stent in the U.S. Army as a Medic, he spent time as a cab driver and studied geology at the University of Denver. He went on to work for the U.S. government in the field of Geology. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling abroad with friends as well as camping and collecting nick knacks from his various travels. He also enjoyed sports as he was an avid bowler and football fan. Later in his life he enjoyed casual investing with close friends along with a distinct interest in genealogy.
Willie was a quiet man who wasn’t ashamed to say he had a few secrets. It is amazing how well you thought you knew someone when in reality, that was very far from the truth. As interesting as his personal life must have been he still managed to share the important things. I will always remember his subtle words “I am doing fine”; nothing more, nothing less. Short, simple and how he chose to live his life.
Willie leaves behind his sons Kenn, Bernard, Michael and daughter Adrean. He also leaves nine Rivers grand children.
