Wilma passed away on November 5th just days short of her 90th birthday. Wilma was born in Templeton, Iowa to Mary (Halbur) Stevens and Joseph E. Stevens. She attended Sacred Heart in Templeton and graduated in 1951. After high school, Wilma attended Commercial Extension School of Commerce and was employed in the insurance industry for the next 40 years. She earned many designations from the Insurance Institute of New York and was President of Insurance Women of Nebraska. She retired in 1994 as Vice President of Marcotte Insurance Agency after being there for 27 years.
Wilma moved to Mesa, Arizona after retirement where she lived on the golf course and played lots of golf and tennis. She loved to hike in the Arizona desert and she perfected her bridge game. She also enjoyed traveling both near and far.
After 20 years in Arizona, Wilma moved to Colorado to be close to her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. She was able to spend lots of time with the kids, babysitting and attending their sporting events and school activities.
Wilma played many hours of bridge while in Colorado and developed life-long friendships with her fellow bridge players. She lived independently and enjoyed life with friends and family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Doug Arnell and grandchildren Jordan and Jason Arnell. Also, her sister Elma Cormack of Fort Dodge, Iowa and nieces and nephews in Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota,
Services will be at 1:00pm on Monday, December 4th at Horan & McConaty Funeral Service at 5303 E. County Line Rd, Centennial, Colorado.
