Winifred ""Winnie"" L. Kitts

Winifred L. Kitts (Kenney), 93, passed away on April 26, 2013. A long-time resident of Aurora and Denver, Winifred was born, April 4, 1920, in Aspen, Colorado and raised in Redstone, Colorado. She was an only child to Norma (Christopher) and John Kenney. A graduate of Carbondale, CO High School and Colorado State Teachers College in Greeley, CO, she married Jess E. Kitts in 1940 at the historic Redstone Castle. She was the proud mother to three children, Michael, Theresa and Thomas (Kelly), grandmother to five great grandchildren, Rebecca, Jennifer, Daniel, Riley and Nolan, and great grandmother to three boys. She was preceded in death by her husband Jess in 1984 and her oldest son Michael this past March. She was an active member of many organizations including the Adams/Arapahoe Women's Club, Cherry Hills Cultural and the Assistance League of Denver. The family would like to thank the many people who loved and cared for Winifred including her fond companion Jerry Garbarino, the staff at Springbrooke, Garden Terrace and The Denver Hospice. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 7:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Therese Catholic Church, 1243 Kingston Street, Aurora, Colorado. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Denver Hospice, 501 S. Cherry St., #700, Denver, CO 80246. Please share memories and leave condolences by signing the guestbook.
