Yvonne Marie Murray, 90, of Castle Rock, Colorado, passed away on March 23, 2024.
Yvonne (Vonnie) was born on August 5, 1933 to Alfred Koetter and Lillian (Osburnsen) in Great Falls, Montana. After Vonnie graduated from Great Falls High School, she met Patrick W. Murray. Vonnie and Patrick married in 1954 and went on to have 8 children.
For a strong and stubborn German/Norwegian woman, she was known for her sassiness and great sense of humor. She loved fiercely and unconditionally. Vonnie loved spending any time she could with her family and friends.
She spent her free time playing (sub-par) golf, as her skills were more honed in knitting and sewing. Her baking brought a smile to everyone’s face, especially during Christmas time. Vonnie also loved to garden, her green thumb nourished many rose bushes and perennials. She loved everything in the name of art such as painting, stain-glass, jewelry, ceramics and pottery. She was an avid reader, and liked to say she was an “advanced” skier. Vonnie was a world traveler—and although she got lost quite often, it always led her to new and interesting places. Her favorite place to visit and talk about was Italy, her home away from home.
Vonnie, affectionately known by her family as Granny, was predeceased by her husband, Patrick Murray Sr.; daughter, Sherry Murray; and brother, Fred Koetter. She is survived by her children Cathy (Brent) Catlin, Patrick (Deb) Murray Jr., Shelly Murray, John (Reneé) Murray, Mikell (Billy) Gallegos, Julianne (Richard) North, and Jennifer (Scott) Smith.
Vonnie is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, Brett, Erin, Aubre, Zachary, Jacob, Elise, Aidan, Addison, Declan, Kian, Neave, Kane and Ty and 1 great-granddaughter, Brooke.
