Zuri Louise Peterson

Our little Angel, Zuri Louise Peterson, at 14 months of age, passed away October 19, 2013, following a year-long battle with a malignant brain tumor. Zuri was born August 21, 2012, in Denver, Colorado, the precious daughter of Sara R. Tremeear and Marc H. Peterson, and the beautiful baby sister of Echo Tremeear. At two months old, Zuri was admitted to Children's Hospital Colorado after doctors discovered a 6 cm tumor in the center of her head. Zuri courageously endured brain surgeries, chemotherapy, many trips to the emergency room, as well as extended stays in intensive care and hospital recovery rooms. She never stopped smiling, cooing, giggling, or loving everyone around her. Zuri loved her snuggle time with family, her blankies, and caressing ears as she fell asleep in Mommy and Daddy's arms. Zuri spent most of August and September 2013 in Children's Hospital Colorado after suffering a cardiac arrest and a stroke. It was during this final hospital stay when an MRI revealed that her tumor had become much more aggressive and spread into areas of her brain that could not be treated anymore. Zuri went home at the beginning of October on hospice care. She enjoyed playing with her toys again, going for walks, and snuggling on the floor with her big sister, Echo every night at bedtime. When the time came for Zuri to leave us she passed away nestled between Mommy and Daddy as they held her hands and kissed her face. Zuri is loved and will be dearly missed by her parents, Sara and Marc, her big sister, Echo, grandparents Bruce and Virginia Peterson, great-grandparents Mike and Judy Tremeear, and loving God-parents Charles and Lisa Hargett. Zuri's family will receive friends at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue (at South Parker Road), in Aurora, CO. on Sunday, November 3rd, from 12Noon-2:00pm, followed by a Funeral Service that will begin at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers and other comforts, memorials for Zuri Peterson may be made to The Morgan Adams Foundation. The Morgan Adams Foundation provides funding directly to Zuri's doctors at Children's Hospital Colorado.
