Ann Lesky, 99 of Highlands Ranch, Colorado passed away in her sleep on December 15, 2018. She was born as Anna Mertel on March 6th 1919, in McLean, Texas to Michael and Susie (Cermak) Mertel. Ann is preceded in Death by her loving Husband of 56 years, Ted Lesky and her oldest Grandson, Ricky Dean. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Pakan and husband Ed. Daughters Janet Dean and Diane Martin; Grandson Michael Dean and his wife Abby and their 2 children Dawson and Gentry. Also her Great Grandchildren from Ricky Dean; Stephon, Ricky, Tony, and Dominic. Granddaughter Ellice (Martin) Dahlin and her husband Brandin and their 2 children Julian and Braydon, and Grandson Jason Martin.
Ann grew up in McLean, Texas, and attended school in a 2 room schoolhouse in the Pakan Community. She had 2 brothers and a sister. They grew cotton and raised pigs and turkeys along with various other crops and animals. After high school, she attended business school in Oklahoma City. After that she moved with her sister Dorothy to Dallas, TX during World War II, and were Rosie the Riveters, building the P-51 Mustang and B-24 bombers. At the end of the war, they both went to office jobs for a couple years. With their adventuresome natures, they decided to move to Denver in 1948. She got a job at the Federal Center working as a personal assistant and also doing some of the first computer jobs sorting card decks. In 1954 she married Thaeddeus (Ted) Lesky. They raised their 2 daughters, went for picnics and hiking every weekend in the summer with the family and did family road trips to many park and National Monuments. After Ted retired, Ann and Ted traveled visiting places like Alaska, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Rio de Janeiro, Spain, England, Scandinavia and Vienna. They also found relatives in both Poland and Slovakia.
After starting life with just the 2 of them, they had quite a family that they loved very much.
