Carolyn Leonard

Carolyn Ann Leonard, age 83, passed away peacefully on October 06, 2022. She was the wife of James Leonard, whom she met 70 years ago and enjoyed 61 years of a loving marriage.

Born in Denver Colorado, May 2, 1939, she was the daughter of Fred and Winona Flattery. She was a graduate of South High in Denver and later attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and graduated from University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Elementary Education. She worked as a teacher for the Gifted and as a substitute, but dedicated her life to her family and raising her boys.

She was a lifetime member of Central Christian Church in Denver Colorado, where she was baptized and married. Throughout her life she enjoyed camping, volunteering at the Denver zoo, traveling, tennis, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her devoted husband, sons Mark Leonard and wife Sally, Bill Leonard and wife Leigh;

Grandchildren Rachel, Zach, Blake, and Ross, great grandchildren James and Joanna, sister Eileen Phares, and numerous extended family.

The funeral services will be held Friday, October 14th at Horan & McConaty Funeral home at 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial Colorado 80122. The viewing will be held at 11:00am and the celebration of life service at 12:00am. After a long and courageous battle, our sweet wife, mom, grandma, and great grandmother lost her battle to this debilitating disease. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm heart. To know her was to love her. We believe she is now free and celebrating in heaven, but forever alive in the hearts of her loved ones.
