This is My Story:
On January 19, 1960 in Denver, Colorado, Charles Edward Gannaway Jr. was born to Charles Edward Gannaway Sr. and Eleanor Dale Gannaway.
As a young boy he helped to feed the hungry. He always had a willingness to help others in need. His hobbies as a child included building model cars and model airplanes. His favorite grandmother Fannie Hozan (Aunt Mama) would take him to the zoo, museum, and fishing. Fannie Hozan was extremely protective of Charles due to his heart mummer. When other children in the family would go out to play, she made sure that Charles stayed close to her with limit activities.
Family gatherings was a high light in Charles childhood which were held in City Park every Sunday. Including his great-uncle James Howard Napier, his aunt Alta Mae, and a host of friends.
Always an inquisitive and intelligent boy he went to school and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School with honors. He also attended CSU.
During high school he held his first employment at Taco House as a front-line cook. His sister (Sherry) worked under his supervision as a “bus girl” which later he had to terminate her employment due to her talking on the telephone.
Charles found steady employment with “Best Brands” as a Sales Representative which he sold fine spirits and wines. During his career he had the opportunity to travel to the East Coast areas with Joanne Dunn (his partner) who proceeded him in death.
During his time of his illness he spent his friendship with Gail Daukas, Susan Dunn, Connie and Jack Tierney, and Barbara Plaskow.
Fun-loving
Charles always had a warm sense of humor. He never showed sadness. He enjoyed life, his family, and friends. He loved cooking fine cuisine. He enjoyed history and was highly intelligent with a passion for current events. His love for music was intensely deep, from Jazz, to Rock and anything between. He loved watching the TV show “Jeopardy”. He enjoyed movies and loved talking about them. Also, he enjoyed spending quality time with his nieces Renesa and Renee Kerford who he loved dearly.
Charles final request was to see his favorite uncle (Ruel Ricky Reynolds). This request was granted, and he was very pleased to spend his final days with his uncle.
On June 21, 2021 Charles was called home to glory to be with the Lord. He leaves behind to cherish his father Charles Edward Gannaway Sr., his mother Eleanor Dale Gannaway, his sister Sherry Chung (Rodger brother in-law), his brother Gregory Gannaway, his niece Renesa Dale Kerford, his niece Renee Sherell Kerford, and many friends and family.
Charles will be missed but never forgotten.
