Chloe’ Chantelle Steidel, 29, died at her grandmother’s home on January 20, 2022. Chloe’ lost her long battle with mental illness.
Chloe’ was born on December 22, 1992 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. At five years old, her family moved to Salt Lake County, Utah. Over the past decade, she sometimes lived in the Salt Lake City area, or with her grandmother in Pine, Colorado.
Chloé was bright and compassionate. She always lit up a room with jokes and comradery. She was a bold, brash, and brave young woman; her smile and laugh were contagious, her empathy and understanding lightened the darkest corners of anyone’s mind. Many have said that Chloé had the biggest charitable heart of anyone they had the pleasure of knowing, and could be counted on to help others at a moment’s notice.
Some of her hobbies were drawing, painting, horseback riding, Tarot card readings, hiking, and paddle-boating in various Colorado reservoir lakes. Her compassion for, and love of animals, was a trait others quickly noticed and most of her treasured saved pictures and videos frequently included her own, her friends’, and family members’ pets. She had a special bond with her younger sister, Fiona. Their like-minded sense of dark humor, love of creating art incorporating animal bones, and unique clothing and hair styles never failed to induce compliments from others. Exploring and enjoying the beauty of nature in the mountains was an important part of her connection to her spirituality and physical health. Despite not having a faith, Chloé was a believer in the spiritual realm. She said she could feel other-worldly things, and though she did not know what lie beyond, she knew it was Something.
Chloe’ had a profoundly exceptional relationship and friendship with her maternal grandmother, Maryann, and had spent the last four years providing her grandmother with household help and companionship. While Chloe’ named several friends as people she considered “second moms” in her life, her “Grandma” was always first on that list.
The list of friends that loved her is long, all of whom say they are better off for knowing her, as is the list of aunts, uncles and cousins. Among those that will miss her the most is her mother, Amie Charlton (nee’ Witte) of Herriman, UT; her father, Raymond Rizer, along with her step-mother, Noelle, of Riverton, UT; her sisters, Fiona Dwire of Sandy, UT, and Aidan Rizer; her cousin, Hannah Heilman; her step-sister, Kali Derby of Salt Lake City, and step-brother, Collin Derby of Riverton; her grandmothers, Maryann Witte, of Pine, Colorado and Beverly Richardson, of Elwood, Kansas; and her great-grandparents, Lowell and Lois Jensen of Lehi, UT.
Chloe’ is preceded in death by her grandfather, Jim Witte (2002), with whom she was also especially close.
A Celebration of Chloe’s Life will be held at 2pm, Saturday February 19th at the Megaplex Meeting Suite, 3761 W Parkway Plaza Drive, South Jordan, UT, The District Theaters. Relatives and friends, all of her loved ones, are welcome.
