“I’m Hanging in Here for You.”
A few of the last words spoken by such a great woman.
On May 2nd, 2021 Constance Olivia (Owens) Ross passed away peacefully, transitioning to her next great journey. Connie took her last breath in the presence and comfort of loved ones; her Daughter, Shelle’ Manning, and several Brothers and Sisters.
Connie was the first of 10 children, (five boys and five girls), born to Cecil O’Brien Owens, Sr. & Lena Ruth Winters in Huntsville, Texas on September 3, 1946. She had become the Matriarch of this family when we lost both Parents in 2009. She was our Rock!
Connie lived a long and joyous life, one that gave definition and meaning to the term: ‘friendship”. She could name childhood friends from Elementary through her days at East High School in Denver — and she loved and cherished each and every one of you.
Connie was a loving devoted Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Great-Aunt, Great-Great Aunt and ’Grandy’. No one could tell a story better than Connie, she remembered everything and when she spoke, we would listen for all those little tidbits of our family history in the stories she held so close to her heart. She freely shared her knowledge, common sense and guidance — never fearing to speak her mind, though always wishing you to be your best self and helping where she could. Never has there been a more thoughtful, loving, and caring person. She had a heart of gold, an open mind, and a willingness to share with anyone.
“No regrets”! She had none! She wanted to let you all know that she was leaving this place…to go to that place … that place called “Heaven”. “I have loved, and I have been loved”. “And for that, I thank you all”; “Be well and stay safe”; “Take care of each other”; “Love everyone you can… Now!”; “And “Don’t Cry for Me”.
