Crestino Gonzales

Lone Tree, Colorado

Crestino (Tino) Herrera Gonzales, age 85, passed away in his home in Lone Tree, Colorado on August 22, 2021.  Crestino was born in Abilene, Texas on March 10, 1936.  He was the son of Rosendo Gonzales and Eulalia Herrera Gonzales.  He married Esther Flores Gonzales August 22, 1958 in Abilene, Texas.

He is survived by his daughter Kristina Tesvich of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and his son Gilbert Eric Gonzales of Parker, Colorado, Crestino and Esther had 5 grandchildren.  Jacob and Gabriella Tesvich, Carter, Cordero and Samantha Gonzales.  He is also survived by 1 brother Valentine Gonzales.  He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.

Crestino joined the Navy in 1957 when he was 21 years old, aboard the USS Prairie.  After Honorable discharge he was a Barber and went to night school to get his degree in Criminology.  He joined the Department of Justice where he worked as a Border Patrolmen in Temecula, CA.  He moved his family to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to become in Immigration Inspector. And spent time in San Ysidro, CA. before moving to Minneapolis, MN. where he was a Port Director for the International Airport and 5 surrounding airports.  He retired in 1998.

He was a member of Mission Hills Church in Littleton, Colorado and he enjoyed telling stories of his Border Patrol days, golf, travel, genealogy of his family, fishing with his grandchildren, baseball and loved to read by the window.

Funeral services will take place at Horan & McConaty on September 14, 2021 at 10:30am.  A small reception will follow and internment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery where he will receive Military Honors at 1:30pm.
