Debra Stanley

August 17, 1950 — August 8, 2021

Debbie was born in Concord, New Hampshire on August 17, 1950. During the early years of her life she lived in New Hampshire, New York, and California until her father's job took them to Colorado in the early 1960's.
Once her children were grown Debbie returned to school and in short order completed an associate degree, a bachelor’s degree and a PhD in clinical psychology/neuropsychology. She then started a very successful business.
To quote one of her close friends “Debbie was an amazing woman who brightened the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her kindness and fun-loving nature will be greatly missed.” And from some of her friends from Africa, “The most beautiful soul”. And another “She lived life to the fullest taking everything she could out of each day”.
Debbie lived her life to the fullest and everyday was filled with what she wanted to do. Her interests knew no bounds. Her favorite hobby was gardening; she never had enough flowers and was constantly gardening both inside and out. She was also passionate about photography and filled two computers with her pictures. Along with the photographs she loved making scrapbooks. To finish out the day, she would shop for hours; especially antique and specialty thrift stores, to find that unique piece to display, share, or give to friends and family.
She cared for and loved others – her patients, her kids, her grandchildren. Grandkids were very special to her. She was always looking for a special gift or an activity that would appeal to them and show them that she was thinking of them and that she cared about them.
She loved to read, and especially to share her books. She built a library in her house, where she derived great pleasure in sharing her favorite books.
She would collect recipes and stories from around the world as she traveled to Africa, Australia, Japan, and Europe. She loved Spain where her son lived, and particularly the Spanish island of Mallorca. Her other favorite destination was Hawaii to stay on her favorite island of Kauai.  She learned to cook recipes from all these locations and was excellent at it. A true chef who could – and did – put on a gourmet meal with whatever was available. On a beautiful day, no matter how busy she was, she loved to take off, find a view and have a wonderful picnic complete with wine, full meal, and lovely plates (no paper plates allowed!)
Debbie leaves behind her husband and partner of over 30 years, Chuck; 4 children; 3 stepchildren; 15 grandchildren. She will be missed.
