Dennis David Meyer, age 67, of Littleton, Colorado (formerly of Vincennes, Indiana) passed away on Monday morning, October 17, 2022 at Littleton Adventist Hospital. Dennis was born to Darvin Dale Meyer and Juanita (Minderman) Meyer on April 14, 1955 in Vincennes, Indiana. He shared the same birthday, two years apart, with his sister, Linda (Meyer) Coleman.
Dennis graduated from Lincoln High School in 1973 and Indiana State University in 1977 with a secondary education bachelor’s degree in history. His first job was teaching history at South Knox High School from 1977-1979. While teaching, Dennis also worked as a realtor and auctioneer with his father in the D. D. Meyer Company. After teaching at South Knox, Dennis attended Valparaiso University where he attended law school. He graduated with his Juris Doctorate degree. With this new degree he moved to Denver, Colorado to practice law while working for the Doane-Western Company. With a great deal of energy and entrepreneurship, he then created two new businesses. One was called Office Liquidators, a lucrative business in Denver, employing at one time as many as 70 employees.
Dennis met his wife, Valerie Mehos, while a student at Indiana State University. They had a long and loving marriage. This past June Dennis and Valerie celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with two children, Gregory and Alexandra (Ali). Ali died in 2002 and Dennis and Valerie formed the Ali Meyer Foundation which is still a vital foundation today. This foundation has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past twenty years to The Children’s Hospital of Colorado.
Dennis was a family man, a devoted family man. He coached both of his children’s baseball, softball, basketball, and soccer teams. He loved camping in the beautiful mountains of Colorado with his son, Greg. With his daughter, Ali, he was patient and cooperative while she used him as a model for putting on makeup. He was a great father.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, D.D. and Juanita Meyer; his daughter, Ali; his sister, Linda Coleman; maternal grandparents, Guy and Louise Minderman and George F. Meyer and Mildred Meyer Hannah; and Aunt Marva Lee (Meyer) Dyer.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie; his son, Gregory; his sister, Jan Henry, and brother-in-law, Bill Henry of Vincennes; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ahna and Richard Steiner of Littleton; nephew, William Guy Henry; niece, Kathryn Allen; Uncle Frank Meyer and Aunt Verna Meyer of Vincennes; and Uncle Jim Dyer of Carthage, Indiana and several cousins.
