Dr. Stanley Doida

Dr. Stanley Y Doida, a prominent dentist, 76, passed away in his home in Parker, CO from natural causes.

Stan is survived by his former spouse, Eileen, eldest son, Stan Jr. (Margaret), three grandchildren, Danielle, Kira, Eva, and two sisters, Sharon Ioka (Dennis) and Jean Cuseo (William). He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Mae, and youngest son, Scott.

Stan was born in a Japanese internment camp at Tule Lake, CA. After the war, his family moved to Denver, where he spent the majority of his life. He and his family lived with another family as they began establishing roots in Denver. Eventually, his parents, Mae and Sam, began operating the Olympic Hotel in downtown Denver. Stan attended elementary school at the 24th Street School. Later, the Doida family moved to Park Hill, where they were one of the first families of color to move into the neighborhood. Stan attended Smiley for junior high school and played baseball for the Japanese junior baseball team. He attended East High School.Growing up, Stan always had a job. As a young boy, he had a newspaper delivery route.  During high school he worked at Pacific Market in downtown Denver.

Stan excelled academically at East High School and earned a full scholarship to attend Knox College for his undergraduate work.  Stan was an Art History major and always loved art. Prior to graduating from Knox College, Stan applied, was accepted to, and attended dental school at Northwestern.  After graduating dental school, Stan taught dentistry at Northwestern and lived in Chicago. During this point in his life, he met his future wife, Eileen, after she was referred to him for a wisdom tooth extraction. Stan and Eileen dated for 2 years while they lived in Chicago.

In 1971, Stan wanted to move back home to his family in Denver.  Eileen followed him.  Stan and Eileen were married on March 24, 1973. Prior to having kids, Stan and Eileen traveled the the United States and Asia and they spent weekends skiing at Keystone. But, Stan worked like a dog to get his dental practice up and running.

Stan and Eileen had their first son, Stan Jr., in April of 1979, and their youngest son, Scott, in May of 1981.

In his spare time, Stan enjoyed playing poker and other games of chance.

Stan founded the dental practice known today as Midtown Dental and practiced dentistry for 39 years. Stan cared greatly for his family, friends, partners, colleagues, and patients.
