Eileen Conway Patchett was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven and fully into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 2nd, 2022. Eileen was born on April 7th, 1933, in Queens NY to Patrick and Louise Conway. In the 1950s she finessed her way into a job at Scandinavian Airlines as a switchboard operator and within two years rose to be the executive secretary to the Vice President of North America. This exemplifies her intelligence, work ethic and fearlessness. She then decided to pursue the glamorous and prestigious job of an airline hostess. She was immediately snatched up by American Airlines and left behind the security of her family and hometown to be based in Los Angeles CA and Tulsa, OK. It was in sunny LA where she met through a mutual friend her beloved Bob. They were married in 1960 and together they raised their three children Mary Catherine Ramsour, Esq.; John Patchett, Col. USAF (Retired); and Joan Patchett Andrews, M.D. In January of 2022 Bob and Eileen celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Eileen dedicated her life not only to her family but to her unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She would rise daily at 3 AM and spend hours in prayer and Bible Study. She did this to be completely available to her family during the remainder of the day. Whenever her children needed her, Eileen was always there with a cheerful helping hand, often traveling to help them move, care for newborns, or babysit her grandchildren to give her children a weekend or evening away. She was truly a remarkable wife and mother and dearly loved by her family.
Though our hearts are broken that she is no longer here with us, we find great comfort knowing she is at peace in the arms of Jesus, surrounded by those who have gone before her.
2 Corinthians 5: 6-8
So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
Eileen is survived by her husband Robert Allen Patchett, son John Edward Patchett, daughter Joan Patchett Andrews, sons-in-law Robert G. Ramsour and David B. Andrews, grandchildren Anne, Abby, and Grace Ramsour, and Sarah, Catherine, and David Andrews. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Mary Catherine Ramsour.
