George Johnson

January 7, 1948 — October 20, 2021

Lakewood, Colorado

George Johnson was born January 7, 1948 and passed peacefully after a long battle with esophageal cancer on October 20, 2021 at the age of 73. He grew up and attended schools in Wheat Ridge and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1966.

George worked at Ball Metal Container beginning on May 21, 1966 and retired after 47 years of service.   He and his wife Pam have had an antique business for over 40 years that served as a ‘sometimes profitable’ hobby.

George has been described as a genuine stand up kind of guy.  He had a dry sense of humor and wit.  He was a self taught investor, woodworker and skier.

He is survived by his wife Pam Johnson, his daughter Andrea McNamara (Mike), grand-daughter Bonnie Donegan (Sean), grand-daughter Kat McNamara, grandson Paul McNamara (Megan Robertson), great grandson Dane Donegan,  his brother Bob (Sharon), many nieces, nephews, cousins, and fabulous family and friends.  George is preceded in death by his Mother Betty and his Father George, and his oldest brother, Grant.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers-celebrate George whenever you do any of the following:

Go cruising in your fun car.  Eat Swedish pancakes with Lingonberry syrup. Enjoy donuts or pizza from a local mom and pop shop. Go to an estate sale and haggle down  your paying price. Play Cribbage.  Gamble-take a chance at the Craps table.  Eat all of the Halloween candy that you purchased before Halloween.  Listen to music of all genres-big band, Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Little Richard, James Brown and much more! Watch “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World” or the original “The Out-of-Towners.”  Enjoy a car show.  Enjoy a meal from the local In-N-Out (his favorite burger place). Drink an Orange Julius.  Enjoy an iced cold Coca-Cola, or a beer.  Travel.  Teach yourself a new skill. And don’t forget to eat ice cream for dessert.

You can also make a donation to The American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society of Colorado.
