Georgia Darr

Georgia Darr, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2019 with her loved ones by her side. She was born on the family homestead near Briggsdale, Colorado in 1926 to Hiram and Anna Hill. She grew up on the family farm and attended Salem Country School for eight years. She went to high school in Briggsdale, Colorado for two and a half years, a half year in Kimball, Nebraska while living with her sister Ida's family, and completed her senior year at Greeley High School in Greeley, Colorado graduating in 1943.

In the fall of 1943, Georgia went to Roswell, New Mexico, where her brother, Robert, was stationed at the Roswell Army Air Field. In January of 1944, she started working for the Civil Service. She married Lloyd Toumbs in Roswell in August 1944. As the war progressed, Georgia's husband was sent overseas, so she moved back to Briggsdale in January of 1945 where her son Randy was born in August. They lived there until August 1948 when they moved to Kimball, Nebraska where her daughter Shirley was born in 1951. In March 1955 the family moved to Denver, Colorado. While in Kimball, Georgia became a member of the Order of Eastern Star in September of 1950. In December of 1968, she transferred to Unity Chapter #97 in Denver where she served as Worthy Matron in 1990-91. Georgia married Jacob Darr in February 1971. In October 1971 she opened a dress shop (Darr's Fashions) which she ran for 19 ½ years until she retired in 1991. In 1997 Georgia moved to Greeley, Colorado where she lived until moving to Arvada, Colorado in April 2015. Georgia loved to travel and play cards.

Georgia is survived by her son Randy Toumbs, daughter Shirley (Rich) Garrimone, grandchildren Brandy Bishop, Michael Garrimone, Nicole Garrimone-Campagna, Ryan Toumbs, Robin Bacon, and great grandchildren Zoe, Kira, Bradley, Emillia, Lincoln, and Zachary. The family held a private service, and Georgia was buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery with her husband Jacob.
