Gladys Ponte

Gladys Vinciguerra Ponte, a resident of Aurora, Colorado, died on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.  She was born June 10, 1933 in Queens, New York, the daughter of Carlo and Enes Vinciguerra.

In 1957, Gladys married Donald P. Ponte.  In 1960, they bought a home in West Hempstead, Long Island, New York, where they lived for 50 years.  , Gladys spent 35 years of her professional life at Exxon Corporation in New York City, most of it as an Executive Assistant for several Directors. As a life-long Catholic, Gladys was an parishioner of St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in West Hempstead, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and worked on their social outreach programs.  In the 1990’s, Gladys was named a Dame of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher.

Following Don’s death in 2010, Gladys moved to Aurora, Colorado to be closer to family.  She was an incredibly outgoing person and immediately made close friends in her community in East Aurora and became an active parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Parish.

Gladys was the youngest of ten children and the only one to survive past the age of two.   She leaves many nieces and nephews, including: Mark Ponte of San Juan Cosala, Mexico, Corina Ponte of Aurora, Melissa Snider of Massapequa, Long Island, New York, Susan Musetti of San Francisco,Bruce Musetti of Queens, NY, Frederick Musetti of Orlando Florida, Jilll Musetti of Orlando Florida and Paul Musetti of Damascus, PA.  She also leaves a cousin, Linda Herbert of Portland, OR, as well as many great nieces and nephews and other wonderful friends in New York and Aurora.  She was preceded in death by her cousin Joseph Panvini and her niece Renee Musetti.

Services will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 19099 E. Floyd Avenue in Aurora, Colorado at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 2, 2022.  There will be no visiting hours, but there will be a reception following the Mass.   Her ashes will be interred at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Autism Speaks at http://AutismSpeaks.org or to St. Michael the Archangel Parish (see address above).
