John Poulos, 69, passed away September 19, 2021. Beloved husband of Patricia Poulos (nee Kontaxis) for 36 years; devoted father of Angelo Poulos (Bethany) and Niko Poulos (Athanasia); and proud grandfather of Theofanis, Athanasios, Panagiotis, and Sevastiani. Cherished son-in-law of Nick and Elaine Kontaxis and son of the late Angelo and Andromachi Poulos. Dear brother of Tom Poulos (late Shirlee) and Amelia Kazakos (late Nick) and brother-in-law of Constantine Kontaxis and Euthym Kontaxis (Krisann); loving uncle of 6 nieces and nephews. Born on July 4, 1952, and the youngest of three siblings, John was raised and lived in Pensacola, Florida until his late teenage years, when he then moved to Portland, Oregon. There, he met the love of his life, his wife Patricia, and raised his two boys. John was a pillar of the Greek and Orthodox community in Portland, most notably as a founding member of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, where for 20 years, he faithfully and selflessly devoted himself to the works of the church. Two years ago, John and Patricia moved to Centennial, Colorado to be closer to their children and grandchildren. John’s greatest gift was the power to create community. To be around him meant no hand un-shaken, no story un-heard, and no name forgotten. His love and kindness were infectious, and a true example to all.
