Joyce Fahlstedt, age 96, died peacefully on May 20 after a lengthy illness.
Joyce was born in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin to Helen and Iner Hansen.
She attended Oconomowoc High School and it was during this time in her life that she met the man who would later become her husband, Alfred Arthur (Bud) Fahlstedt. Bud worked at a neighborhood store where Joyce often shopped.
Joyce and Bud were married on July 28, 1944 and enjoyed 43 years together until Bud’s passing in 1987.
Together they raised six children while, as a military family, they moved numerous times. She was a dedicated mother and homemaker as they lived in such varied locations as Wisconsin, Minnesota, Texas, Pennsylvania, Missouri and even Germany. Eventually they settled in Denver.
Joyce is survived by her brother Jim; her daughters Jill (Dan), Karen (Craig) and Gale; her sons Gary (Kate), Rick (Beth) and Tim (Kim). Joyce was also blessed to have 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Services will be at Horan & McConaty Mortuary, 5303 E. County Line Road in Centennial, Colorado on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. will be followed by interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2 p.m.
Donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to organizations committed to Parkinson’s research such as the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
