Karma Zoe Joseph Smith died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 17, 2021, two days prior to her 88th birthday.
Karma was born and raised in the small, southern Utah town of Beaver. She met Collin Smith while attending the University of Utah where she received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in music. Collin and Karma were married in the St. George temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on November 23, 1956. The young couple spent the first few years of their life together in Salt Lake City as Collin pursued a career in Civil Engineering. They moved to Denver, Colorado in 1967 when Collin accepted a new job opportunity. Karma grieved deeply when Collin passed away on February 19, 2013 but was grateful for the remaining eight years she was able to spend on earth with her family and friends.
Karma was a woman of many interests and talents. These included a deep love of music, particularly the piano and organ, and a passionate devotion to the Denver Broncos, Nuggets, and Colorado Rockies, whom she followed religiously until the day she died. Following in the footsteps of her mother, Karma taught piano her entire adult life (there are too many students to count), retiring only when she no longer had the physical strength to do it.
As a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Karma spent countless hours serving others as she faithfully fulfilled many assignments in the Church. Most importantly, she was an example of pure Christ-like love to all she came in contact with.
Karma is survived by her four children and their spouses, Brad (Jennie), Craig (Shawna), Carolyn (Daren) Forbes, and Valerie (John) Smith, 12 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
