On the evening of 31 May 2021, Katherine J. Barone passed away after a long battle with a degenerative and incapacitating neurological disorder at her home.
Katherine was the oldest of four children born to Mary and Jack Andreoli of Anaconda, Montana in 1950. Katherine grew up in Anaconda and completed her education in Catholic and public schools in her community. Following her graduation from high school she attended the University of Montana in Missoula, MT. After completing one year she decided she would rather work. She worked at Warm Springs State Hospital for several years. It was there that she met her future husband. They eventually married and had two children, Todd and Scott. Katherine and her family moved to Denver, Colorado in 1977 where she remained until her passing. Following the move to Colorado she continued her career in accounting for Arco, BP and Mincom. During the first couple of years in Colorado, Katherine put her husband through graduate school and shouldered most of the responsibility for caring for her family, who was a great source of pride to her. Katherine was an outgoing and warm person as evidenced by the close relationships she developed with her co-workers and neighbors. She has multiple craft skills and was creative. Her outlets for her creativity were sewing, counted cross stitch, interior decorating and design, gardening, and other crafts she dabbled with. Katherine was raised Catholic and was actively practicing until she became too ill to attend mass. It was the values she learned growing up in the church that gave her the tools she used to instill positive values and compassion in her children, who followed in her footsteps. Even during the last stage of her life, she maintained a positive outlook on life and rarely complained about anything that was happening to her or around her. It was her desire to embrace life and focus on the positive that contributed to her marriage of 48 years.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Mary Andreoli, Anaconda, MT; her younger brother Jack Andreoli, Butte, MT and her two sons Todd A. Barone, Chicago, IL and D Scott Barone, Brighton, CO.
Katherine is survived by her husband Ben Barone, Aurora, CO; sister Gege Wakefield (Larry), Kalispell, MT; brother Bob Andreoli (Joan), Anaconda, MT; daughter-in-law Sheila Barone, Brighton, CO. She also has three surviving grandchildren: Cole, Isabella and Alana Barone, Brighton, CO.
