Lidanne Jones Sandberg passed away on May 1, 2022, in Denver, Colorado, at the age of 88.
Born to the late Rosalee and Felix Jones, Lidanne was known to be a loving, energetic, lively, and passionate person in every avenue of life. She grew up in one of Denver’s oldest neighborhoods: Park Hill. Her childhood home stayed in her family for 72 years. Lidanne was a proud East High Angel. She received a B.A. in Art from the University of Colorado in Boulder. In 1962, she married the late Bill Sandberg. Lidanne served as an educator for Denver Public Schools for 51 years before retiring. She had an active life and was involved in several organizations and memberships, including Kappa Kappa Gamma, the Crestmoor Community Association, and numerous bridge groups. Lidanne planned many East High School reunions.
Lidanne (also known as “Lida,” “Trout,” or “Beep”) had many hobbies including painting and sketching, shopping, entertaining, gambling, playing bridge, attending musicals, and walking on the beach. She was an avid traveler, frequenting places like Las Vegas, Hawaii, Sanibel Island, Grand Lake, Europe, New York, California, Santa Fe and Taos. She also enjoyed gardening, to the extent that her garden was included in the Denver Botanic Gardens tours over the years. Being active was a core aspect of Lidanne’s life, and her passion for jazzercise was only matched by her love for her friends and family. She will be missed for her sense of humor and her kind and generous spirit.
Survivors include her children Karen Sandberg and Bill Sandberg (Lori), grandchild Kelli Johnson (Andrew), great-grandchild Hunter Johnson, and sister Judy Gardner.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Lidanne to Agape Hospice Healthcare, 6041 S. Syracuse Way, Suite 220, Greenwood Village, CO 80111.
