October 30, 1937 — April 26, 2022

Denver

Mary Kathryn Kuempel, “Katie” was born on October 30, 1937 in Denver, Co, the second of three daughters, to Harry Julius Kuempel and Lois Elizabeth (Shilvock) Kuempel. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, then Loretta Heights College with a degree in English. Katie worked for the Denver Post, sang, danced, and acted with the Empire Lyric Players, where she met Regis Paul Malloy. They married in September 1961 and became parents of Mary Kathryn, Kathleen Lois, Patrick Joseph, Michael Kevin, Molly Ann, and Regis Paul, Jr.

Always a woman of strong faith, Katie worked at Blessed Sacrament Parish office printing bulletins, then as office assistant/manager for Reverend Monsignor Leo R. Horrigan, then at Notre Dame Parish until her retirement.

Katie was actively involved in parish and school life, volunteering on many committees, singing in the church choir, and acting in many Blessed Sacrament melodramas.

While family was always her #1, Katie also loved music, theatre, opera, reading, playing bridge, travel, and her beloved Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies!
