Mayra Alcala-Fernandez

Mayra J Fernandez, 35, died at home on May 25, 2021 following a long and tough battle with colon cancer.

Born in Whittier, CA on November 3, 1985, Mayra is the daughter of Maria and Miguel Fernandez. She grew up in Denver, CO and graduated from Manual High School in 2003.

After a brief career in medical billing, she was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in 2015. She then focused on spending time with her family and friends, hiking trails, conquering 14ers and traveling. Mayra lived life to the fullest and always made time for people and things that mattered most to her. The most important thing in her life were her children.

Mayra met the love of her life, Steven Alcala, and they were married on July 24, 2020.

Mayra is preceded in death by her Grandmother Angelina and her grandfather Jorge. She is survived by her mother Maria, father Miguel, husband Steven, children Chely, Brianna, Daryll, and Alex, sister Erika, brothers Miguel, Francisco, and Efrain.

She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
