Philip Dale Smith, 89, of Castle Rock, CO, went to be with his Lord on Dec.19, 2021.
He was born to Owen D. and Helen S. Smith in Delta, CO. He had one sister, Regina. His childhood was spent in south Denver. He was a member of Denver’s Highlander Boys, achieving the rank of Colonel and he graduated from Denver South High.
He married Mae Jeanette Jordan in May of 1957. They resided in Phoenix for several years before returning to the Denver area.
He graduated from Rockmont College, now known as Colorado Christian University.
Phil worked for the US Postal Service and retired from the State of Colorado. Upon retirement, he drove school buses and shuttles to DIA.
His volunteer activities included, among others, the Douglas County Jail leading Bible studies, Open Door Ministry, Colorado Trail, and the churches he attended throughout his lifetime where he participated in children and youth ministries and leadership of worship services.
Phil is survived by nephews Lane Miller, Loren Miller, and Curt Jordan, and nieces Robin Stoneman and Shauna O’Donnell.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sister.
Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 23rd at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, with a reception to follow.
Interment will be at Hampden Memorial Gardens.
