Richard Feehs

June 2, 1933 — October 14, 2022

Richard Howard John Feehs, 89, husband of Helen Beck Feehs, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022 in Highlands Ranch, CO.

Born June 2, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late August “Poppop” Feehs and Bertha “Nana” Feehs, both immigrants to the United States from Germany in 1928. Known as Rich or “Honey” to his wife, Dick to his friends and coworkers, and Grandpa to his grandkids, he was loved and admired by his family.

Dick graduated from high school at age 16 and went on to earn both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University and the University of Delaware, respectively. He had a career he loved, working for E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company for 35 years, retiring in 1989. At DuPont, Dick held multiple positions, including Manager of Jackson Labs, Plant Manager in Antioch, CA and Manager of Compensation & Benefits at the corporate headquarters in Wilmington, DE. Research was his passion, and he was awarded multiple patents.

From Richard’s earliest years, his parents sought to teach him the Christian faith, and he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age. His faith was of utmost importance to him, and he was always active in church, serving for many years as a trustee. He enjoyed photography, traveling the world, and woodworking. Building furniture and toys with and for his grandchildren was a special joy.

Dick and Helen moved to Vi at Highlands Ranch in 2008, where Dick was active on the Finance Committee. He also faithfully attended the Monday Bible Study and the Wednesday morning Men’s Breakfast.

Dick is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen, as well as their four children and spouses: Helen (Ron) of Tracy, CA; Bob (Kim) of Centennial, CO; Dave (Linda) of Vail, AZ; and Rich (Sherry) of Lorton, VA. He & Helen have 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.

A small private service will be held at Horan & McConaty of Centennial, CO on October 29, 2022, followed by an interment at Cherry Hills Community Church in Highlands Ranch, CO.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to: Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 https://www.samaritanspurse.org/
