Richard (Rick) Lee Knoll, 86, died on November 3, due to complications of a heart attack.
Born July 26, 1936 in Homeworth, Ohio, he moved to Eustis, Florida, in his high school years. Following high school, he moved to Miami, Florida, to attend cosmetology school. He then moved to New York City to achieve his dream of dancing and singing in the theater. When full-time theater work didn’t transpire, he transitioned to work as a hairstylist, at times styling the hair of a few Broadway stars while in NYC. He later moved to Denver, and for the next 40+ years styled hair, owning his own salon for the last ten years of his career. In his early years in Denver, he continued to act, sing, and dance in community theater. He was a gifted pianist and organist, and formerly sang in the choir at Mile Hi Church. He enjoyed his friends in the Primetimers group, and always loved attending concerts and shows with his friends.
Rick was the beloved uncle of Christine Bailes (Mt. Dora, FL), Janine Lester (Mt. Dora, FL), and Shelby Gracey (Pittsburgh, PA). He also had several great nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his long-time partner, Harold Young, and his sisters June Knoll, and Dorothy Pickens.
There will be no formal services, but his ashes will be scattered at the Gardens Facility in Aurora.
