Robert (Bob) Barstow Abell departed his earthly life on May 10, 2022 to join his family in heaven. He was born July 8, 1933 in Burlington, VT, the son of Mabel and Wesley Abell. He married the love of his life Lois Ann Gray Sept. 11, 1954. Graduated from the University of Vermont in 1956, B.S. in Business. After college joined the Army and later the Vermont National Guard to obtain the rank of Major with 28 years of service. He traveled the world working for International Business Machines of Essex Junction, VT as a purchasing agent and retired after 31 years in 1993. He continued to travel the world on adventures after retiring and often landed where ever his kids and grandkids were living. He enjoyed the outdoors which included, sailing his boat on Lake Champlain, hiking and skiing the green mountains of Vermont and later the mountains of Colorado. He enthusiastically volunteered his support to the maple sugaring season at the Green Mountain Audubon Center in Huntington, VT for many years, where he also picked up the hobby of birding and devoted more time to photography.
Bob leaves behind his beloved wife Lois G. Abell of Arvada, CO; son, Scott (Teresa) Abell of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Jane (Sally) Abell of Arvada; grandsons, Christopher (Terrin) Abell of Breckenridge, CO, Matthew Abell of Bend, OR; granddaughters, Nicole (Jon) Kullander of Colorado Springs and Danielle (William III) Skeele of Colorado Springs; great grandsons, Christian, Riley and Gabriel Kullander; great granddaughters, Abigail Kullander and Ezra Rey Abell.
He is also survived by his nieces, Laurel Swift, Jessica Betz, and Toni Carlucci; and nephews, James (Diane) Swift, David Carlucci and Michael (Mary) Carlucci.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mabel Nutting and Wesley T Abell; his sisters, Althea (John) Carlucci, Marjorie (Walter) Swift, June Abell and his twin brother, Thomas Abell; his son, Eric O. Abell and nephew, William Swift.
