Robert Swank

August 11, 1955 — November 7, 2021

Robert "Bob" Norman Swank, 66, beloved father and husband, went home to be with the Lord on November 7, 2021.

Bob was born on August 11, 1955, to Everett and Ruth Swank. He loved living in beautiful Colorado where he spent most of his life. He retired as a Plant Specialist from Xcel Energy in 2017. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Michele Roberts Swank; five children, Abbie Graves, and husband, Dave, of Commerce City, CO; Cori Kohlhagen, and husband, Cody, of Denver, CO; Andrew Hill, and wife, Nicole, of Westminster, CO; Matt Robert Swank, and wife, Jenn, of Canton, MI. and Tim Swank, and wife, Ashton, of Lochbuie, CO; eleven grandchildren; Whitney, Tate, and Rory Graves; Nicholas Robert, Christian, and Jude Kohlhagen; Eloise and Oliver Hill; Sawyer and Jaxson Swank; Alexa Steely; two brothers, Everett Swank, and wife, Dina, of Alvin, TX; Bret Swank, and wife, Stacy, of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Jolene Foster, and husband, Charlie, of St. Anthony, ID; and ten nieces and nephews; Greg and Lisa Swank; Brittany Myers and Cody Swank; Joshua and Zach Foster; Juanita Hardin and Jennifer Arneson; Jeff Strait and Kristen Rieger.

In March of 1996, Bob and Michele enjoyed their first date which was the start of their rare and true love story built on faith, commitment, and laughter. They beautifully blended their two families into one. He once described his love for his growing family like a wild brushfire that will continue to grow and grow as others come into his world, adding more fuel to his fire, enlarging his circle.

His daughter-in-law, Jenn, said, "If you ever needed to find Bob in a crowd, just follow the laughter!" He was always surrounded by his friends and family and could always be counted on to provide the (occasionally inappropriate) belly laughs. Bob was a colorful, lively light in this world. He shined brightly and was adored by nearly everyone he met.

Bob spent his free time hosting BBQs for his family and friends, golfing, enjoying Colorado's outdoors, cheering on the Colorado Avalanche, cooking up a batch of his infamous "Bone Broth" and "Fire Cider," and generally encircled by many of his doting grandchildren. He especially favored his title(s) as "Granpa," "Bampa," "Grandbob," and a grandchild favorite, "Grandfarter." Many summer days were spent in Bob's backyard surrounded by wading pools, sprinklers, food on the grill, water balloons, and his grandchildren's laughter.

Bob was a man of faith who had a strong, personal relationship with Jesus. He was exceptionally generous, simple, yet profound. He brought levity to any challenging situation and was incredibly thoughtful. He was full of life and lived passionately and lovingly.

A viewing to honor his beautiful and well-lived life will be held on November 18, 2021, from 5 PM-8 PM at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel in Thornton, CO.

The family intends to hold a Celebration of Life AKA Bob Party at a later date in 2022.
