Robert Welter

Robert J. Welter, of Denver, died on 09/22/2021. He was 79 years old. He is survived by his sisters, Virginia Hartmann (Terry) of Forest Lake, Minnesota and Agnes Meium (Tom), of St. Paul, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his good friends, John and Nancy Riede of Denver; their three daughters, Rachel, Tiffany and Kimberley and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents George W. Welter and Leone S. Welter, and two brothers, Roy and Norman.

Bob grew up on a farm in western Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota where he received an undergraduate degree and a law degree.

Upon graduating with honors from the University of Minnesota Law School, he joined the Denver law firm of Holme, Roberts and Owen. After six years with the firm, he became a partner in the firm and continued to practice law with the firm until his retirement. He found the practice of law very enjoyable and particularly liked speaking at legal seminars. He was on the lists of best lawyers in Denver for many years. Bob was married to Susan Riede of Denver for several years. The marriage ended in divorce; they did not have any children.

Bob was a member of the Denver Country Club for more than 40 years. He particularly enjoyed playing golf at DCC and, with the great facilities and wonderful staff, considered it a very special place.

Visitation at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd., Oct. 25 at 5pm with Rosary at 6pm.  Funeral at Mother of God Catholic Church Oct. 26 at 10am with reception immediately following at the Denver Country Club.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the RJW Charitable Fund at The Denver Foundation.
