Tom Szot, 68, of Aurora passed away suddenly on January 12, 2019. Tom was born on September 14, 1950 in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ to Chester and Anne Szot.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Pam and a brother, Gary Szot, of San Jose, CA.
After graduating from Hasbrouck Heights High School in 1968, Tom graduated cum laude from Jersey City State College with a BA in geology and geography. He then decided to go west to the University of Arizona for a master's degree in geography.
Tom began a long career in the oil and gas industry as a geologist for Phillips Petroleum in the late 1970s and was working with Excel Geophysical Services at the time of his death.
Tom was an avid caver when he was younger and played softball until he was 65. Other interests included mineral collecting and he was an avid fan of all University of Arizona sports, especially basketball.
