Verle Lafayette “Sam” Hill was born in Fillmore, Illinois on 11-11-1936. He passed away in Denver on March 11 at 11:11 a.m.
The only child of Tornie and Frances Hill. He attended Southern Illinois University and began a career with Emerson Electric in St Louis. He went on to have a thirty-six-year career with Dow Chemical.
He received his MBA from the University of Denver.
Over the course of his career with Dow, he lived in Ilinois, Arkansas, Denver CO, and Texas, returning to Denver prior to his retirement.
He married Pat Brower in 1958. They have one daughter Christy (Bruce) Porter, three grandsons, (Andrew Lafayette, Tristan and Reed Porter) and three great grandchildren (Silas Lafayette, Abel and Thea Porter)
He enjoyed golf, bridge and was an avid reader. He was a former President of the International Magnesium Society, a member of Wellshire Presbyterian Church and the University Hills Rotary.
