How to Choose a Provider

Choosing a Funeral & Cremation Provider

Did you know that Colorado is the least regulated state in the United States and anyone can hold themselves out to do this work? Unfortunately, this means that many local funeral providers offer substandard services. That’s why it’s so important to do your homework and choose a professional, compassionate and highly experienced funeral provider—a funeral home you can actually trust.

Before you settle on a funeral provider, ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Is the funeral home family-operated?

Horan & McConaty proudly remains family-operated.

  2. Where does the owner live? Does he or she live here in Colorado or in another state?

Horan & McConaty’s  John Horan is a lifelong Denver resident.

  3. How long have they been in business?

The Horan and McConaty families have been serving Colorado residents since 1890. Over the decades, we have provided compassionate care and unparalleled service to more than 100,000 families.

  4. Does the provider follow certain standards even though the state of Colorado does not require it?

Because we are committed to excellence, Horan & McConaty voluntarily adheres to the highest funeral industry standards.

  5. Always ask “Do they have an onsite crematory?”

At Horan & McConaty, we offer cremations at our own crematory, which means your loved one will never leave the shelter of our expert care. You can take comfort knowing our trained professionals will handle every step of the cremation process with dignity and respect.

  6. Do they offer full-time grief support to survivors?

Horan & McConaty is the only firm in the Denver area to offer full-time grief support to the families we serve.

  7. Do they have comfortable, conveniently located facilities?

Horan & McConaty offers 7 convenient locations throughout the Denver Metro area. Our beautiful facilities were designed to provide a sense of warmth, peace, serenity and comfort. We also offer elegant full-service reception centers that can accommodate virtually any type of event before or after the service.

  8. Is the funeral staff friendly, professional, compassionate and experienced?

At Horan & McConaty, we have carefully chosen each member of our staff to ensure that our families receive professional, compassionate care. Our highly trained, caring experts are here to guide you through every step of the arrangement process and support you during this painful and difficult time.

We can guarantee that if you ask other funeral and cremation providers these questions, you will not receive the same answers. Again, Colorado is the least regulated state, which allows anyone with little or no qualifications to offer cremation from garages, industrial warehouses, contract crematories and other substandard facilities. With these substandard providers, mix-ups and other mistakes have occurred. Call 303.745.4418 today to ensure you receive the highest level of care and all of your questions are answered.

Our family has been in Denver for over 100 years. We have cared for over 100,000 Denver residents since 1890, and we offer the level of compassionate care only few can provide. We are accountable to you and your family.

During your difficult time of need, choose a family-operated company you can trust. Choose Horan & McConaty. Call 303.745.4418 to talk to one of our caring staff.

So many words come to mind when I think of the experience we recently encountered at Horan &McConaty in Thornton, Colorado.
*kind, compassionate, professional, empathetic, knowing just the right thing to say at such a sad time, respectful, prompt, attentiveness to detail, efficient, friendly and flexible. Amy May and her team were phenomenal during this very sad and unexpected time. Amy 's communication and follow up were so appreciated. They were very accommodating. Amy noticed a scratch on my Mom's urn. She immediately phoned me, explained the problem and had a new upgraded urn sent overnight so we could pick up my Mom without any delays. No matter what was required Amy responded quickly and efficiently. Cant forget to mention the warm plate of cookies waiting for us when we sat down to discuss the arrangements :).
Thank you Amy, your the best!
