It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Colleen Kay Rosa, who departed this world on March 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 17, 1966, to John and Marsha Rosa, both of whom predeceased her, Colleen lived a life full of love, dedication, and warmth.
Early Life and Education
Colleen grew up in a loving family, surrounded by her siblings Carin, John (Julie), and Donald. She attended Adams City High School, graduating in 1984. Colleen's passion for helping others led her to pursue a degree in Speech Language Pathology, which she earned from the University of Northern Colorado in 1989.
Professional Life
Colleen's career was a testament to her dedication to making a difference in the lives of others. She began her professional journey as a speech language pathologist, where she touched the lives of countless children through her care and expertise.
For the past 12 years, Colleen served as a licensing specialist for the state of Colorado. In this role, she was an extremely supportive supervisor to her team of licensing specialists. Colleen was known for her encouraging, understanding, and patient demeanor. She was instrumental in supporting mobile and outdoor school age child care programs and provided training to promote consistency among the licensing team.
Personal Interests
Colleen's love extended beyond her professional life. She had a passion for Hawaii, where she found peace and joy in the island's serene beauty. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley, whose music brought her immense happiness. Colleen also cherished her beloved dogs, Bravo, Sammy, and Saydi, who were her loyal companions.
Family and Relationships
Colleen's family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her sister Carin Rosa, her brothers John (Julie) Rosa and Donald Rosa, her niece Brittany Basile, her nephew Robert Vincent, her niece Megan Rosa, and her nephew Nicholas (Nico) Rosa. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss her dearly.
Legacy of Kindness
Those who knew Colleen will remember her as a warm, kind, thoughtful, and authentic person. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and understood. Colleen's kindness and sweet nature made her a cherished friend and family member. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Funeral and Memorial Services
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Colleen's life will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, located at 2645 East 48th Ave. in Denver, Colorado, at 8:30 a.m. on March 25. Following the service, Colleen will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery, 14800 Old Brighton Road in Brighton, Colorado.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Trail Winds Recreation Center, 13495 Holly Street in Thornton, Colorado, at 11:30 a.m. on the same day. This gathering will provide an opportunity for friends and family to come together, share memories, and celebrate the beautiful life that Colleen lived.
