Can I Pay for My Funeral in Advance?

There are two ways to arrange a prepaid funeral. If you’re not sure which option works best for you, our preplanning experts are happy to talk through each option and help you decide.

Option 1: Prepay in full for simple peace of mind. The funds will be placed in a secure trust, and the price of the funeral and any merchandise you select will be guaranteed and protected against future price increases and inflation. If you move away in the future, we can arrange for the trust to be transferred to a different funeral home.

Option 2: Prepay through life insurance for a budget-friendly option. This allows you to pay for your plan in advance through monthly installments. Your funding will be backed by a national industry leader with thousands of pre-need insurance policies in force. Our insurance plan is exempt from federal income tax when paid to a named beneficiary.

Affordable Prepaid Funeral Options

Preplanning your funeral is one of the best ways to control costs while ensuring your wishes are honored. It can be tempting for grieving families to overspend while emotions are running high, or to be forced to cut corners out of necessity when facing an unexpected funeral expense. By planning in advance, you have the time to consider your options, discuss your wishes with your family to get their input, and control the cost of the funeral.

At the time of planning, you will meet with a funeral director and discuss your preferences and options for the service, such as casket, urn, and memorial keepsakes as well as the cost of the burial or cremation itself. You will be able to review pricing and take your time with the decision. If you decide to change your plan in the future, any selections can be adjusted at that time.

Once you’ve selected the items you prefer, the costs will be locked in by your prepayment, offsetting the risk of rising funeral costs from inflation in the future. This means that whether you choose to pay fully in advance or finance through an insurance policy, you will have a price guarantee.
